Find a way to reward success instead of failure.

A hammer and a chisel won't work...

Some people don't want to be successful, it's too much work and effort for them. Part of the problem is that a large part of the population thinks that they deserve more than what they have worked for or are qualified for. A good start is to get the uneducated an education also, a "tax holiday" will put money into the hands of those that will spend it... instead of giving it to the banks. The money that's spent by consumers will go to the retailers that provide the best product for the money. The business that provide lousy stuff or bad services will fail, as they should. The places where the money is spent will result in additional demand which will result in hiring of qualified people. These people will have money to spend and add some to the tax base as well. BTW, I don't subscribe this idea that we should give businesses a special tax deal for them to hire employees... That's false demand similar to the cash for clunkers or the tax breaks on buying a house... it won't work. Businesses will hire when they have more product to sell.

I think most of the people want to improve their place in life... Those that don't shouldn't be rewarded... Those that are overpaid need to have their income taken down to competitive levels. ( The free market is taking care of some of that ) There is no justifiable reason in the world that a person should be paid 90% of his regular salary while he is at his beach house hoping that the strike lasts longer. There is no reason in the world that Newark NJ should have a 50% failure rate on high school graduation when the residents are paying taxes at the rate of $25,000 per year per student for their education. Raising taxes to put more money into a system that has clearly failed is not the answer. Any teacher in Newark that is complaining that they are underpaid should be told to find other work... They are not providing enough value for their current pay... And they sure as hell don't need us to buy their Viagra for them. Part of the problem is that we have a system here where the government is doing the negotiating with the unions for their pay... Not good... The government has proven over and over that they use our tax money to buy votes.

Anyway... I would fix it by helping those at the lower end that want help, create demand so that qualified people have job opportunities and bring some of the excess back down to reality.

You can't do this by taking away from the success that you are trying to foster... You have to do it by rewarding success. Pull the bottom up, not the top down.

I have been advocating a "tax holiday" for about two years now. The reason the administration won't do it is because it does not do much for their constituents... They already aren't paying payroll taxes. Politicians aren't able to do what's right unless it provides them with votes... sick.
