He only presented one bond, in April 2008. He told HSBC to deposit it in his Rukos brokerage account, and then sell it on the secondary market and use the proceeds to pay off the mortgage, which was held by HSBC.
HSBC contacted ING. ING told them the bond was a fake. HSBC relayed that information to Sid. Two years later, in June 2010, Sid asked them to return the bond. They told him they'd destroyed it on ING's instructions.
Of course that's just Sid's side of the story. We have yet to hear from HSBC or ING.
