2010-09-29 08:15 ET - News Release

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and FOSTER CITY, Calif., Sept. 29, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 8x8, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGHT), provider of innovative cloud communications and computing solutions, today announced it has signed an agreement with Equinix (Nasdaq:EQIX), a provider of global data center services, for colocation and interconnection services at Equinix's International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) DC6 campus located in Ashburn, Virginia.

With expansion to this new facility, 8x8 now maintains five data center operations in three U.S locations – Silicon Valley, New York City and Washington DC.

With over 20,000 businesses across the United States relying on 8x8 for their primary phone service, 8x8 requires a network infrastructure with high reliability, redundancy and low-latency customer connectivity. In addition to meeting these criteria, the Equinix carrier-neutral DC6 IBX data center provides direct access to more than 190 networks, enabling 8x8 to quickly and efficiently exchange critical business data with its strategic partners.

"The Equinix DC6 IBX data center not only enhances 8x8's geographic diversity with increased availability and redundancy, it also provides us a local presence for our federal government customers," said 8x8 Vice President of Network Operations Mehdi Salour. "As our customer base grows, in both SMB and enterprise, and businesses continue to adopt cloud based services, Equinix's global platform, cost-efficient connectivity, outstanding uptime performance and flexibility to quickly scale will be of critical importance to 8x8."
