When checking into the validity of a company I have invested my money in, I will contact anyone necessary to confirm or debunk questionable actions.
Whereas I can see an overload of questions from investors could be a pain in the vendors' ass, I can also see where if one is doing something shady, they wouldn't want anyone to check up and find out. Since I have heard of no one else on this board contacting Orbitz, I'm sure my little email has done no harm.
DD doesn't just include scouring the internet for stories other people have written about your investment. It can also include asking questions, doing some investigating and coming up with your own stories.
