When a Poster dies...

Some of you may know Phil (BullRider), Phil (HotRodChevy), Phil (SantaClause) and Phil lots of other things passed away Tuesday. There is a red "Rest In Peace, Phil" link on each IHub page.

Phil was one of the first old-timers on IHub who welcomed our VMC board and our members to IHub from Raging Bull over five years ago. I had approximately 500 posts back and forth with him, the majority of which were PMs.

We definitely did not always get along, but I always respected his intellectual perspective. He was very committed to IHub and will be missed by many.

Phil and I worked together on the Milestones board for a number of the contests. He was a huge NASCAR fan and ran that board. His BBQ sauce was famous on IHub. He participated in PSL1 and was +59% - ranking #11.

That brings me to a question that he often pondered as the moderator of the Memorial Board. What happens to IHub posters who quit posting? Certainly in some cases we learn that they passed away, but in most, we know nothing. That always bothered him and so he created that board to make sure there was a centralized location where information could be collected and stored.

I know of a number of VMCers who have had medical problems and some I have not heard from in awhile. Most notably are Arnie and Worthylion. The last post for each was in late 2009. We'll probably never know what happened in most cases. I guess that's just the nature of this new fangled thang they call the internet.
