Yes, that is the mindset that will be our undoing if we don't reverse it. Worse is the accompanying mindset -- not just that we want something for nothing, but that we're ENTITLED to it!

Look at all those mindless diatribes by Fed Reserves. The guy actually believes people who happen to be born in America are ENTITLED to be paid more than people doing the same work elsewhere. That we are ENTITLED not to have free markets and international trade level the playing field.

The natural extension of that is that because we are ENTITLED, we then are justified and have every right to use whatever means necessary to impose a set of rules that will protect that entitlement. That's where things get really scary.

Not so much just the hypocrisy of wanting the benefits of free trade, but not the costs, but the genuine belief that we are entitled to treat others differently than we'd treat ourselves, in pursuit of getting things we've decided we're ENTITLED to.
