Fidel may have, at one point, fought for the average Cuban.

Things change over time, fuagf....and so do people's perceptions. It's VERY possible Fidel (and his soft spoken brother Raul) went on to do what Che Guevara feared they would do...and stop fighting for the people and bend more towards the "bourgeois" way of thinking...which is making $$$$$.

And yes, I'm VERY AWARE of how Cuban refugees influenced (and continue to do so) American politics following the Bay of Pigs debacle.

And many of them are just as paranoid as their Communist neighbors some 90 miles south of them.
