"Over time privatize Medicare and Social Security."
Why would the private industry be interested in a money losing proposition?
The answer is, they wouldn't - and besides, it's hard to imagine how it would work.
Social Security and Medicare are supposed to be able to be self-sustainable via revenues from payroll taxes. The private industry cannot tax people, so they would have to make these programs opt-in.
Of course, many people would immediately opt-out, making it difficult to run a business when there is no money coming in, and huge costs going out.
Seniors relying on Social Security for their incomes will be broke, and those relying on Medicare for their medical benefits will no longer be able to see a doctor.
Have you really thought this through, or do you just believe the Republicans when they say that "privatizing" is such a great idea?
