Ulum says there are other companies working on similar technologies, but he says, “We have one patent pending and other intellectual property we’ve filed just recently. So there are some unique things that we’re doing that we think are patentable.”

Then, he adds, “But our approach is unique. And one thing setting us apart from the competition is that the crude oil we make – we’re actually selling it.”

One of the test sites for an early version of the Plas2Fuel system was Agri-Plas, a recycling company in Brooks that specializes in recycling dirty agricultural plastics. That small test system produced four tanker loads of marketable crude oil within a year.

Now, Agri-Plas plans to make the Plas2Fuel system a permanent part of its operations as soon Plas2Fuel has tested and manufactured its latest generation of equipment.
