Bush and the repubs approached the dems in congress in 01, 03, 05 and 07 to reform fannie and freddie. the dems blocked it every time. it was during clinton's years that loan standards were reduced and owning a house became an entitlement. obama was an attorney for acorn which went into banks and strongarmed them into making loans to minorities. this is why the dems kept fannie and freddie out of their financial reform bill. giving houses away to the poor has never been an agenda item for the republicans. how the dems can blame bush for this is beyond me.
