Contrary
It's common belief that judges act for justice, or fairness, or a number of other 'noble ideas'. In fact, in most instances and cases, they are prohibited by rule, law, and tradition from taking any action that resembles that. Rule: It doesn't matter how much evidence you have of rape, even a video tape, if you didn't give the correct notice your case is out. Law: You got the video tape, twenty witnesses, and the guy freely admits it under oath. You're passed the statute of limitations, screwed again.
Judges deal with and make decisions on facts placed before them and the cases that other judges have decided based upon the rules laid out by legislatures and courts. Those things have very little to do with what you are talking about. Although that is contrary to usual myth and belief. The rules are printed and available for all to see.
Hasn't anyone mentioned to you that ignorance of the LAW is no excuse?
