I would think by now that some would realize that when the Star Trek and Vatican products were introduced that there was no big manufacturing set up for either product and that only a few urns were made in the first place.

Now Matthews gets involved with selling these items and the whole picture changes doesn't it? Now you have the manufacturing that can be set up on a large scale and you have a distributor that has thousands of their own funeral homes across the country and in Puerto Rico that they will sell the products to. Did you read that 200 pre orders for the Star Trek urns have already come into Matthews from as far away as the Philipines? According to industry sources only 100 orders for a particular urn design is considered to be a success, so I guess that would make the Star Trek urns twice successful and they are not even available yet.

I don't think Matthews is going to lock themselves into anything they can't wiggle out of.

Well I don't think that Matthews would have taken the time to negotiate and sign the papers in the first place if they had any intention of backing out. JMHO

Maybe EI gets a one-time dose of revenue, but then what.

I don't know that I would be so quick to categorize a TWO YEAR AGREEMENT as a one time dose of revenue. What then? THEN MATTHEWS RENEWS AND EXTENDS THE AGREEMENT OR BUYS EI OUT. JMHO

I thought ESPN, a few years back, did a nice job for EI.

Yes they did as well as some of the other networks that did pieces on EI. Too bad at that time EI was trying to work as a manufacturing and distribution company with the products being produced in China which led to a lot of problems. Now on the other hand EI has partnered with some of the leaders in the funeral industry that had laughed at them when they first came on the scene.

That was years ago, and we've seen how people jumped out of their seats and said "that's for me".

Well so far at least 2000 people have jumped up and said that they wanted the MLB urns and that was without mentioning how many MLB caskets had been sold. This figure also was done with only 13 teams out of the 30 that make up the league. Mighty hard to get a Cardinal fan to want to step up and buy a Cub or Yankee urn don't you think? This has been taken care of with the release of all the MLB teams being represented now. The last update also did not mention how many PM caskets and urns had been sold and I am nearly positive that it did not mention Matthews at all which will add sales for the next two year period.

As for Matthews not making any announcements yet I believe that we all saw the announcement that said that product launch was in September so I think that we might want to wait for that date to see if it is mentioned then. I believe that it will and some can believe whatever they want but until September this is a very moot point.
