To my understanding any WAMUQ shares that are short must be first covered by shares form the market, once all of the shares from the market have been recovered and there are no more outstanding shares there will be a cash call. In the mean time if someone shorted shares, their broker would buy up shares on the market and just take the money or other assets from their account to cover the borrowed shares if they do not do this on their own. Once every share is off the market and accounted for the broker that sold the share would be on the hook for any money owed and they would collect that from the person that shorted. Personally I do not believe there is a major NSS position, I am sure there must be something but I don’t think it would be insurmountable. Any WAMUQ share that has been shorted must first be covered with a share from the market. That is what causes the short squeeze and a sudden spike in the PPS and how it works down here and why the in general do not halt trading. By not halting the stock it equalizes the playing field if people don’t lose their head.
