Freedom and Slavery/spall

I don't "blindly" support personal freedom, I understand it very well. I put my life on the line to defend those freedoms. I did NOT put my life on the line to ensure that someone makes 2.5 million a year instead of 1.5 million. I really don't understand your complete obsession with taxes. As meme's article pointed out, only 22% think it is a top priority (gee I wonder WHICH 22%).

What you're totally missing about taxes is both an understanding of what a nation is, and what slavery is.

First, what a nation is. Take Japan. For a long time they were the REAL economic power in the world. They got there by an involved socio-economic strategy which involved working 18 hours a day, seven days a week, the belief that the company was your TRUE family, and by a complicated code of personal and business courtesies. This is now breaking down (thus their economic downturn), but the point is that NONE of these rules were LAW, and none were in their constitution. It was a social compact made, almost unspoken, which allowed millions of people to live in cramped spaces, and work together without killing each other.

In the same manner, WE, as a nation, have agreed to take care of the needy, and to pay the taxes required to do so. There is no law that says we MUST, but also no law that says we CAN'T. You are one of those who disagree with this national compact. You would rather see people starve, die of disease, and have even stated that risking the end of our civilization is not too great a price to prevent having to spend MONEY. You're in the minority here. I know that being in the minority doesn't make you wrong, but it also, as you seem to think, mean that you're automatically right.

Second, slavery. You need to study some philosophy and psychology to get a grasp of what you are speaking. The basic point is that no one can MAKE you a "slave". They can incarcerate your body, do all kind of damage to it, they can take away your money and possessions, and still not make you a slave. You see, it's all about choice. If a person holds a gun on you and says "Your money or your life!", you still have a choice. Not a good one, but a choice nonetheless. Knowing your position on money, I would expect you to die, since giving him the money would make you a slave, or is it only OTHERS who need to suffer? Slavery is a state of mind. When I was in the service, I had to take orders, and I had to risk my life, and do a lot of disgusting stuff. I ALWAYS had a choice. The old saying goes "You can do ANYTHING you want, if you're willing to pay the price." I could have disobeyed orders, but I would have to prove that it was an unreasonable order, or pay the price. However, I was always aware of my CHOICE. Had I NOT been oware of it, THEN I would have been a slave. Many, many people have been made political prisoners, and yet have remained free in their minds. Many, many slaves have had their bodies comandeered, but their minds remained free. These people were only slaves if they gave up their choice, and thought of themselves as slaves, or prisoners. What you are arguing about are creature comforts, NOT "freedoms". The personal freedoms that I am an idiot for defending, are the ONLY freedoms there are. What you are defending is someones right to garner MORE wealth and power, therby relegating others to a life of poverty and disease. So please don't tell me you defend BOTH, you don't. You consistently ignore personal freedoms in your defense of tax relief, mainly because you have this twisted notion of what slavery is, and what is really important in life. I called you naive before, and you took it as an insult, which it wasn't. Naive merely means unused to the affairs of the world, which you are. Hopefully, when you gain more life experience, you will begin to see the impracticality of some of your ideals, and realize that compromises have to be made to balance ideals with real life.
