Tinker,

How to you or we or anyone really know that Lovenox and the Sandoz/MNTA drug are "darn near identical." What is the exact meaning of "darn near" here? "Bioequivalent," as I understand it, does NOT mean "identical." Could SNY argue that the "bioequivalence" standard for a complex drug like Lovenox is not sufficient to protect the public?

Dew argues that the difference between generic Lovenox and Lovenox is no more different than the difference between two different batches of Lovenox. But how does anyone know that for certain?

I have friends who suffered from taking generic Wellbutrin. So did many others. (I believe there is a case before the courts about this right now.) So in that case, the "bioequivalence" standard was clearly not sufficient to protect the public. The friends who called me about Wellbutrin I advised to find the authorized generic. So how can anyone be certain that the same thing couldn't happen to generic Lovenox? Conceivably, couldn't SNY reps argue that a 14% reduction in price is not worth taking a drug that is not identical to Lovenox?

(I'm just asking, so everyone need not get freaked out. I'm long MNTA and looking to add to my position here, but I'd like to know more about the siutation and the possible ramifications.)
