OT: TV censorship
I think it's more of a political "looking for votes" sort of things. IMO, it reflects what the society wants, or at least "claims" to want. This is the pictue that Europe has of Americans - a rather two-faced picture ( not meant as an insult, please) - the land of golden opportunity, where you can do whatever you want, just don't admit that you enjoy doing whatever you want.
It actually makes sense.
I think that if there were more "voting"interest groups saying: "...do away with these prudish censorship rules...", they would be gone in a New York minute.
My kids watch shampoo commercials with naked ladies and think nothing of it. For me, the biggest advantage is - it gets rid of the "forbidden fruits" complex. Kids see it early and don't grow up thinking it's a terrible "don't talk about it" thing, but rather just another normal thing.
