augie and i coincidently just addressed your premise that the 30s type of Great Depression is NOT(at all) likely to happen, but the stock market still can go down. A paradox, perhaps; but that is just how bizarrely out of whack our evaluations became due to a massive betting on spectacular forward growth. It doesn't require a depression to keep this market falling, but just a lengthier than expected slowing in growth. That's my opinion, anyway. Max
