I put it in late at night because that's when I finished the programming and because I wanted it hitting the site during the slowest traffic period (there are no really *slow* periods on the site anymore) and wanted to observe to see if there were any glitches with it. Having spent the day thinking as a programmer, I didn't anticipate non-programming problems with it and didn't mind shutting it off once I saw there were some.

Hopefully most people who see that I'm quite thoroughly pissed about the whole thing know that it's not about how people felt about the survey or whether they thought the site should have one. It's about the *way* some people chose to make that known.

There are a few people who want to roast me to a crisp for every mis-step. And not give me any credit for having corrected the situation. And most of them are people who didn't pay to be here. It ran for a total of about 15 minutes and I got flamed good and hard over it.

One person suggested that there should be an opt out button. That's a good idea and before it shows up again, it'll have one.

Oh, and someone else mentioned ads on the front page and I wholeheartedly agree there. I'd like ads on the homepage that people will look forward to seeing. Golf. Sports. Cars. Fun diversion stuff. If I know that a block ad on the homepage is a link that'll take me on a virtual drive in the 2003 Mustang Cobra, I believe the clickthrough rate is going to be extremely high.

We don't get those ads without showing the advertiser that our demographic makeup includes a large enough part of their target market.
