A 30 minute drive. Um, which direction? How about if we bring it in about at ... looking on his trusty mapquest map, ....Grand Chenier. Is the water pretty shallow off shore there?

Reading the latest Discussion and looking at the IR loop, it looks to be getting better banding, but the center has become smaller with a better defined eye. Might see just a tad of strengthening, but it is night, and it's about to start crossing Isidore's path. Hopefully that will take some of the spin out of it, and then if the water is shallow, as it approaches landfall and we can get it to slow down a little, that might spin it down some more. That trick worked on that monster hurricane, the 150kt one a few a years ago that had 2 million people running for their lives. But the time it made landfall in North Carolina, it was down to 60kt, which doesn't even count as a hurricane and the damage was all caused by the rain.

If you see it coming, duck. <g> We'll have to see what it did during the night at the 5am report. They may go to a mini report at the three hour marks, between the 6 hour ones, so you might want to keep checking back. And nobody has any better or more current data than them, since everybody gets it from them. Good luck.
