Don't forget this is US only. People often spit on Lorcaserin's efficacy saying that 3-4% placebo adjusted weight loss is nothing. In fact, 1/3 of patients lost more than 10% of their body weight and 1/2 lost more than 5% of their body weight on Lorcaserin with minimal side effects. If you have a safe drug that gives a 1/3 chance of losing 20+pounds why go for the ones like Qnexa and go through a one month titration period just to find oneself not tolerable to the drug? Doctors are suppose to do no harm to patients. There is no reason to prescribe a riskier drug with better efficacy before trying out the safer one.
