OT....Just got off the phone with the boatyard ZZ.

Seems my boat weathered the 3 1/2 years of sitting in the water very well. They found about 15 very small blisters that they said I could just leave, or for about 400 bucks, they would take care of them. Very minor stuff. Told them to fix em.

Kewl.....next time I'll wait 5. <g>

There is a sort of controversy hereabouts about boats sitting in fresh water and bottom painting them for protection. It's a different kind of problem, then boats that sit in salt water. In fresh water they get an algae growth that causes blistering.....or can cause it. The bottom paint keeps that algae from sticking to the hull.

Most folks paint the bottoms religiously every 2-4 years, but I know 1 guy who says "Hogwash!"<g>

He's owned boats all his life an has never painted the bottoms. He says the money he MAY have to spend on blistering is much less then the cost of bottom painting.

Interesting......of course with modern day fiberglass hulls, it may be even less of a problem. The boatyards ain't gonna tell ya that though. <g>

:o)
