I presume the early-round investors made out OK, but it sounds like the late-round investors merely broke even.

I don't know the history of the company, but if there was a down-round in there, then likely the early and late VC investors made out about the same. At this exit price, the very earliest (Common) investors likely get close to nothing now - any return they get will be from any further payments by GILD.
