Joe, regarding:

You told me earlier that I was allowed to reply to their attacks."

I suggested ways you could deal with attackers. You told me (a) you couldn't do the first (ignore them) and (b) had no intention of doing the second (turn their barbs back on them, with humor).

That limits the options, doesn't it.
