Very interesting, and I think cautiously encouraging. But, inflows do not necessarily mean that the fund managers will begin buying. For one thing, just the amount of previous week outflow would more than justify them sitting in a cash position with new money; that is, they could have it standing by as a cushion to cover outflows without having to liquidate positions that they may be reluctant to realize losses on at this point.
Also, I know there are particular times of the month where inflows into equity funds typically peak because of various sources of fund flow from pensions, automatic investments, etc. and their cycles. I don't follow these things, but I wonder if these fund flows are unexpectedly high or not, after taking that into consideration.
