sinclap, let me put this in a way you may find more palatable.

First, you didn't address any of the other issues I raised going forward.

But, yes, I agree, desktop PCs aren't going away, as in vanishing to zero.

They are going away, however, as a profit point. (And have been for awhile.)

The piddling margins that Dell, HP, etc., make off a desktop sale are pennies on the dollar at best.

Hello? Why did HP shell out a billion point two for Palm? You figure it out.

Hint: There's no money to be made on the hardware in a continuing race to the bottom.

Again, a desktop is fine at home.

The more of it you can put on mobile devices, the better.

The growth is in mobile.

Enjoy your DIY desktop rig.

No one is arguing otherwise.

But that isn't where the future money is -- else you'd see a new line of Android desktops.

Or maybe you will.
