Bullcrap. The President isn't above the law. Obama knows that. BP knows that. If BP felt he was "extorting" them, then--like I said yesterday, they would have a legal basis for an argument in court.

Nope. The only sticking point with the deal is that BP didn't feel it was necessary to pay lost "wages" filed by out of work oil workers. And that was in the news the other day.
