to appease the concerns of US politicians.

Nope!! Cuba has no clue of basic human rights. Just several months back the Ladies in White were pretty much terrorized in the street by Cuban citizens. That's what fifty years of brain washing will do to you.

Cuba denies it holds any political prisoners and says that those being held are common criminals and mercenaries sent by Washington to destabilize the government.
