frankie, ... First, the feds do not sentence consecutively very often. Matt will get one sentence overall.

Second, he is a first-time offender. That gives him a BIG break under the federal sentencing guidelines.

Third, Matt is obviously cooperating and probably has since his buddy got caught driving the money. ("Who gave you the money" is probably the first question asked of Matt's buddy.) The plea bargain has already been agreed to and the result is in the sealed envelope. When the feds no longer need Matt's testimony, he will be sentenced - probably around 2 years using the guidelines and an agreed 3 level reduction + those fines and forfeitures. ... eom
