I already did that in my post where I showed that the 2009 smartphone volume was only 40M and Intel would need about 100M units to make any kind of a difference in their valuation. That's an order of magnitude above a 20% market share.

I don't think the argument is one of capabilities. Rather, it's image. For example, if Intel were to win the iPhone, that alone may do something even with the small volume of Apple iPhones. However, with the A4 and its surrounding infrastructure being seemingly capable of amazing things, that is hardly a possibility.

Personally, I am at a loss to think of any capabilities that are needed that aren't already in iPhone 4. As Sun Tsu said, "Never fight an uphill battle".

I don't care if Intel "makes it" on smartphones, health care, or embedded. Their plan was $10Bx4, or to double the company in (how many?) years. I just don't see it.
