I didn't say I supported a jobs bill. I gave the two scenarios as an example of a very bad choice. From the very beginning of the recession I've said I supported temporarily suspending the payroll tax for anyone earning less than $100,000 as a fair and equitable method to bring "liquidity" into the economy. I also said I supported extended unemployment benefits...I support a VAT, a flat (income) tax with no exemptions, and tax increases on income above ???????? you fill in the blank. I also expect leadership on spending cuts.....real spending cuts.

So here we are almost 3 years after the recession and without significant ongoing deficit spending there's little hope that the economy would grow. We'll really never know what answer to the problem of the recession was "right" or "wrong", we only have the course taken. Now that we're here and there still appear to be significant problems yet to overcome the need for a solution grows. Ultimately that solution is considerably higher taxes and a substantial reduction in spending.

PS...on the flat income tax you chose the nontaxable exemption amount.
