People have always been nervous whenever they don't hear from someone or something for a period of time. The fear of the unknown is normal. Didn't the jewish people worship idols not long after mosses just did a crap load of miracles for them because they felt he was taking too long? lol if I get the story wrong I apologize, memory of sunday school back in the days is not very good.
