Well put. Better than what I was trying to say. I'll add this - IMO a huge part of the company's attractiveness right now IS ITS SPECULATIVE NATURE.
For example, say you had a time machine and could choose when to buy a huge conglomerate. Let's use Microsoft as an example. Would you want to buy the stock when Gates was first issuing it, company relatively unknown and not profitable, or would you rather buy it now and get a "2% cash dividend?" Would you rather be a millionaire or make 2% in dividends?
