Here is the best trading platform I've ever used...
It's the Fidelity Active Trader Pro (ATPro) platform from Fidelity...There are certain requirements to be met before you can qualify for this platform, so look for them here:
http://personal.fidelity.com/accounts/activetrader/
If you don't qualify for the ATPro trading platform, there are two other FREE platforms I have tried that will allow you to set up your charts very much like I do.
ThinkDesktop:
The first one is ThinkDesktop from ThinkOrSwim.com and here is a link to that site:
https://www.thinkorswim.com/tos/displayPage.tos?webpage=clientApplication&displayFormat=hide
I spent a few days playing around with ThinkDesktop, and to be honest I found it to be very frustrating trying to get my charts the way I wanted them. And the choices of colors for the charts and all the indicators were a bit too bold and bright for my tastes. That's probably because I'm so used to using the ATPro platform for so many years it was hard to adjust to the new Web 2.0 application that's meant for a younger generation. This platform is free to try, but as a free member some of the quotes were delayed 10-15 minutes and that is not acceptable to use as a Day Trader. Maybe they have changed that recently. I tried ThinkDesktop as soon as it came out, and maybe they have changed things since then.
QuoteTracker:
Another free trading platform I used many years ago before I found the ATPro platform is from QuoteTracker.com and here's a link to that website:
http://www.quotetracker.com/
This one will also let you set up your charts like I do, and I was very happy using this platform the year or so that I used it. That was many years ago, and I'm sure they've made a number of improvements since then. Their customer support is excellent, and I've had contact with the owner of the site on numerous occasions. Usually after I post their website and give a good review of it in one of the stock market forums I belong to.
So there are two good free quote providers for you to look at. Fidelity ATPro is my all time favorite, and I've been using it combined with the regular Scottrader for seven years now. And by the way, I was never impressed with the Scottrader Elite platform at all. I tried it when it first came out a few years ago, and I checked it out again recently and it still hasn't changed much at all.
You also now have the ThinkDesktop from ThinkOrSwim.com, and the QuoteTracker platform which are both free to use. ThinkDesktop will probably want you to fund an account with them in order to get real-time quotes, but QuoteTracker doesn't require that because they aren't in that kind of business. You must have a trading account open with one of the many, many Online Brokers they do business with, and you must use the log-in you log into your trading account. Don't worry though. It's totally safe to do this. I've never heard of anyone ever having a security problem logging into QuoteTracker.
www.stockcharts.com
There is one more option available, but it's a paid service. stockcharts.com is one of the best charting services I know of, and I've been using it for many years. Their daily and weekly charts are a free service, but you are limited to adding three technical indicators to the upper part of the chart and three indicators to the lower part of the chart. They offer paid subscription services that allow you to add an unlimited number of technical indicators to your charts, and they also offer real-time streaming one-minute, five- minute, fifteen-minute, and hourly charts which you can use for Day Trading. This site is much easier to use than QuoteTracker or ThinkDesktop, and requires no software to download since the charts are in a browser window. Their Basic Charting subscription is only $14.95/month, and they offer two upgrade packages above that level. I highly recommend stockcharts.com

I also like the trading platforms from Scottrader, Interactive Brokers and Zecco, but absolutely hate the Scottrader Elite trading platform...
I hope this helps...
