I had assumed MRK would be able to see the total number of anemia cases from the other ongoing trials in addition to the open label one. Assuming they have a theoretical worst case value for the placebo arm (an absolute minimum which could be zero) they should be able to approximate the number of cases on the treatment arm and figure out by now whether this is a serious issue. The open label study may not have recruited enough patients by now to make any assumption. Is this unrealistic?
