if the approval comes through, the FDA will have given the green light for a trial using an ampakine for an indication requiring chronic use.

While that's a true stmt, I don't think it means anything more than the FDA ok'ing it for a small trial of short duration.

If the FDA has concerns about ampakines for long term dosing, that won't become evident until much later down the road.
