I hope you realize your statements aren't very logical.

If you believe without MM's stocks would just go straight up, you are very mistaken.

First of all, without MM's there would be no stock market. MM's stand for Market Makers - yes they make the markets. MM's route your buy / sell orders to clearing houses for one. So there is one huge flaw in your thought process. No MM's, no market.

Secondly, lets just for the sake of conversation say we didn't have MM's and markets existed. What will keep traders from flipping constantly? What would keep shorters from running stocks to the ground? What would stop huge corrections from reversing?

No one, the MM's have the financial and regulatory backing in order to provide the markets with a chance, a chance for YOU and others to trade accordingly and make money, and keep things in order.

Dominant MM's such as NITE & ETMM in the penny stock realm will cause consolidation / pullbacks in order to give new buyers a chance to buy a stock and in turn cause higher highs.

The problem is not the MM's - the problem lies with undisciplined, unexperienced and panicky traders.
