The law encourages racial profiling??? Not in my country they don't. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never heard anyone admit to encouraging it. Oh wait, you're saying this law does? Sure, but why can't they base it on speaking the language rather than looks?
I recall once crossing from New Mexico to Arizona and a cop stopped us and asked who Babe Ruth was. Cracked me up as we were both blonde haired and obviously not Mexican. Took a few years before I realized he was actually looking for signs of drugs.

As to economic downfall, plain and simple, illegals do the jobs we Americans refuse to do. They spend the money here. Not a terrible deal short of the fact they pay no taxes.
