The technical explanation is that the short count/percentage represents shares that were not available at the time that the MM filled the buy order, hence, he fills the order with shares that he will deliver at a later point in time. So then, yesterday, fully 76% of the buys were filled with shorted shares -- UNLESS -- the MM shorted the bid.

That's a different situation but technically the same. Shorting the bid simply means that. .. lets say you put in a bid for 500k @ .0003 ... and the ask is .0005 ... the MM could fill your order with shorted shares. This is not normally done UNLESS the MM wants to keep the pps DOWN. This is a tactic used to do just that as it creates the appearance of selling.

In this case, the high short interest tells me that today they may try to suppress the price movement to cover yesterdays action. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you and in fact, if you like the play here and dont mind the risk, you will likely be afforded an opportunity to load more for less money.
