Well, if deflation kicks in, under the mattress is actually a safe place for it. Let's put on our thinking caps. We're going to be lazy though, and just look at some definitions, and let them do the thinking for us. Deflation is when stuff gets cheaper and cheaper, right. You can buy more and more stuff with your money. Hey, that would mean your money is becoming more valuable. Don't need to invest in anything. Just sitting there under the mattress it becomes more valuable. Of course if you have fixed payments like mortgages or debts, that's very bad since you have to use the more valuable money to pay them back.
Does that work? It's the game Max (Itsallover) is playing. He's waiting for what he thinks is the bottom and then he's going to buy in. And if I got the story right, Sir John Templeton in the 30's didn't have much money so he just bought 100 shares of every stock under a dollar. Sure most of them probably went belly up, but enough of them not only survived, but thrived that he is now considered a guru on wall street.
I'm puzzled by something though, and this came up yesterday. Invest?? Now everybody is more than welcome here, but are you at the right board? This is a daytrading board. It's a daily demonstration in real time of live as it happens daytrading by a real pro. I can understand how people get daytrading and investing confused since they both involve buying and selling stocks, but they are really two different things.
And if there is a lesson this board teaches, it is that LTBH don't work in a bear market. Even tonysolomon, #msg-501356 finally learned that one and, I would like to congratuate him on that. And now that he is a no longer a LTBH, he has come to the right place.
Now not to insult anybody by stating the obvious, but you "investors" hanging out at a daytrading board, don't try and do what Zeev does. He is a very, very, highly experienced pro. Not only is he a nuclear physicist, and mathematician with his own computer models, he's been doing this for 15+ years. Do you have the knowledge, experience and tools he does? Then it is probably just best to watch and learn, while working on daytrading 101. Even I'm not stupid enough to trade the stocks Zeev does. Those suckers are high octane rocketfuel. Sure you can make a lot of money in them in a few minutes, but you are just as likely if you don't know what you are doing going to burn a hole not just in your pocket, but through the floor, the ground and all the way to China, with your money going down it. <g>
