You are barking up the wrong tree, my friend. I was calling Harris and LeMay war criminals for what they did to Dresden and Tokyo long before that view became main stream in the US. The use of the word in quotation marks when discussing u-boat attacks however was very appropriate and accurate expression on how the survivors and witnesses of u-boat attacks felt whether it was a problem for them. I certainly would not fault any German narrative using terms like "Tommy" or "Yankee" in discussing Dresden fire bombing.
