if you claim:

The laws on the books are sufficient to deal with the issue.

and, I will agree they are....then, obviously, you will agree the problem is enforcement.

Which leads to the question: if you, as a lefty, believe the law should be enforced,

Enforce the existing laws!

, why aren't the laws enforced and why is the left screaming for amnesty rather than law enforcement? you are all over this board charging racial profiling one minute and law enforcement the next....which is it?

and, where is the logic in this statement?

If I tell you that Mexico is a corrupt government run by US interests ranging from business to drug money....why would you then suggest deporting illegals?

perhaps, related....but, two facets of a problem....addressing Mexican/US government corruption doesn't preclude deportation of illegal...
