Could be very true but only if they are convinced that the post split price will not erode much. So far GSPG has not tried to make a clear case on that. Leaving the AS where it is scares many off. IF they can make the case showing that the PPS should hold up because of xyZ reasons then you are right on. They need to help the market understand the plan better. Not just say here is a RS take your medicine and give us your money.
