Every Phase III trail is different, this one, according to the filing:
The X-PECT study will be powered at 90% to detect a statistically significant difference in overall survival, with an assumed median overall survival for the control arm of 5-6 months and 7-8 months for the perifosine arm. Approximately 360 events of death will trigger the un-blinding of the study.
So after they admit all of the patients, the study will not end until 360 patients die, then it takes months to analyze and prepare the data. Not uncommon to take 12-24 months. I hope this helps!
