In the last 12 months, 77 companies have uplisted to AMEX, NASDAQ, or NYSE. Right now there are roughly 3,324 securities on the OTCBB. Therefore, only roughly 2% of the companies have uplisted in the last 12 months. I recall that the prior year was much slower. So, the average over a longer period is probably closer to 1% per year.
Also, many companies go out of business or are relegated to the pink sheets each year. There is a continuous supply of new companies that come in their place that try to make a go of it. I would guess that only maybe 1 in 25 companies ever does well enough to uplist from the OTCBB.
In summary, uplisting is a rare thing!
