From Today BDS:

" * The council split on going forward
with Sansoucy negotiating a payment-
in-lieu-of-taxes for the proposed
Laidlaw and Clean Power Development
biomass plants. City Manager
Patrick MacQueen said the Sansoucy
said the cost typically ranges from
$15,000 to $20,000 to negotiate a
PILT. For two, the cost could range as
high as $40,000.
Councilor Bob Danderson said he
hates to spend the money until he is
convinced the plants will be built. He
said he has doubts that either will get
built. Grenier and Rozek argued the
cit should start negotiating PILTs as
soon as possible.
After fi rst voting against authorizing
Sansoucy, Danderson changed his
vote to allow the city to go forward.
