That was his point, if Brian gives deadlines you hammer him for missing them. If he gives vague answers you hammer him for not giving hard deadlines. Which way would you want it?
Are you serious? We just want him to give a deadline and actually succeed with it. You know, like when you are at work and you have a deadline you have to meet it or you you get in trouble and eventually could be fired.
