With passage of time, everyone will soon work for the gov't[lol], retire, and hang on to their Federal health insurance plan as a retiree.

I did that in 1986 after X years service, always have a choice of which provider to choose from under that system[e.g. GEHA, Blue Cross etc.] each year. No complaints so far. I am currently self-employed with no other employees working for me. My wife has health ins. also with a major int'l co.

I too have no clue why everyone could not be placed under that Fed plan, whether or not they ever worked as a Fed employee. That plan sounded good to me when proposed a few weeks back; no idea why it did not catch on.

BTW, I have a medical pre-condition, T1 diabetes[1957 diagnosis], which I had always been told would result in expensive, high-premium rates were I to attempt to buy health insurance privately. Ironically, I have never incurred much expense or service because of complications of that chronic disease.
