the commercial and military parts manufacturer announced a deal to be sold to Triumph Group Inc. for $1.44 billion in cash, stock and retired debt. The sale would end local
control of a storied North Texas manufacturer that forged historic military aircraft such as the F4U Corsair and F-8 Crusader. "Quite frankly, we believe that Vought as it is really is a
little underweight in terms of what it takes to be a strong competitor," Doty said, adding that the deal made the most sense for Vought's owners, the Carlyle Group , its customers
and its employees.
