Recently I've had a surprise with two employees that I never expected.
One employee at the age of 53 had an massive stroke and another young 50's guy had multiple bypass work. Both of these are the sole supporters of their wife and children.
Not ever thinking anything about it, because NYS has employee disability insurance and these guys have the abitity for supplemental disability insurance (neither took it).
Recently I found out that our NYS disability insurance pays $170 per week (taxable).
Now you and I both know that people don't save xx amount of money for these situations anymore and it'll be only weeks before these families are in the soup line. (I am doing something for them, but it can't be through normal channels).
Where and when should this start and stop, and is there even an answer?
