Fibrates have always had a limited role, used in high triglyceride states. Unfortunately in Accord they had only 162mg% level on average, barely meeting the definition. Fibrates work, but should be used 3rd line behind niacin and of course statins (the gold standard in therapy).

Accord does not change my approach to diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
